Forget What You Have Lost

Sometimes, our lives can change swiftly. Aside from the death of a loved one, change may actually be a good thing. If you are moving out of a long-term relationship (divorce), changing jobs/careers or retiring, dealing with a midlife crisis or any other challenge that causes you to question all that you are losing, I want you to redirect your thinking.

You have a choice. You can either dwell on what’s missing or you can look to the future. You can focus on all you have had or you can grasp on to all that you can have. Actually, what you need to do is understand all you have gained by this “loss.”

Look over the list below and apply whichever ones fit your particular situation:


Capture Your Personal Sense of Control

How many times have circumstances been so overwhelming that you felt helpless to change things? How often did you feel your decisions seemed useless in the face of this tremendous strife?

Hopefully, you do not feel like this too often, but sometimes when you do you need to know what to do about it.

Basically you want to recapture a sense of control over your life and a belief that you can handle what is thrown at you. This feeling is very empowering. With this feeling, you are not trying to control or influence the actions of others, but rather you want them to sense your self-confidence.… CONTINUE READING
